Calculus Made Easy I definitely plan to use it with my children when they are older. Gardner covers some of the issues that have been addressed in the teaching of higher math, and he makes no bones about the need to encourage rather than discourage those who can most benefit philljps having a practical knowledge of thoompson powerful mathematical tool.
The idea of infinitesimals is much more intuitive to me than limits as well. Feb 25, Dan Perik rated it really liked it. If Thompson had wanted to bother with limits and epsilon-delta stuff he would have, so why drag that into the book? Overall, it serves my intended purpose of refreshing myself and solidifying the concepts I learnt in high school, which I learnt by rote-learning then.

To a non-mathematician, its simplicity and clarity reveals the mathematical genius of Newton, Leibniz, and Thompson himself. This is ONLY because the original is mae good. However, if you want an exhaustive reference book or a textbook suitable for college level engineering or mathematics, there are better books out there because this book lacks rigour and does not dive into deeper, more advanced topics and applications of calculus.

This book served as a good reminder to what I had learned at school and reads in an enjoyable manner.
